Sweet Shoppe Classroom

Welcome Back!

We're in for a yummy year in Peart's Pops 3rd Grade Sweet Shoppe!

Students have opened the door to learning as we've gone over Rules & Procedures for the classroom and the school, and have started in on Math, Science, Reading, and English content.

Along with Rules & Procedures, students have been learning about how our classroom runs. They are getting very excited about Reading Centers, and our classroom Jobs. The Sweetie of the Week will get to put up their All About Me book on the Sweetie board, and can also bring in pictures from home to share. Parents can even bring our Sweetie's favorite pet to school that special Wednesday (12:45-1:10 pm).

Mark your calendars for Back to School Night, August 29th. I'd love to see every student represented!

We've gotten off to such a good start, I just know this year will be a Sweet Success!

Meet the Teacher

Teaching Philosophy

I firmly believe that students have "Multiple Intelligences," including Logical-Mathematical, Spatial, Linguistic, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalistic, and Existential, that should all be fostered in the classroom. This means that on top of the traditional "Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmetic," I include movement and music to facilitate learning, plenty of hands-on lessons and projects, getting out in nature, and working independently and in groups. My goal is to help students learn to relate to themselves, each other, and the world around them in everyday life.

It's also very clear that people learn in different ways. I strive to accommodate all learning styles in my teaching, and to get students the support they need in order to be successful.

Biography

I was born in Colorado, but spent the first part of my life in Southern California. In the middle of my fourth grade year, we moved back to Colorado, and I lived there all the way through college (Northern Oklahoma University). Soon after, my parents moved to my mom's hometown of Tonkawa, Oklahoma. I met and married my dear, sweet husband, and we continued living in Denver for a few years. When I'd had enough of inner-city teaching, we decided to try the simple life in Oklahoma. No one knew how it would go, but we thoroughly love it here! I get to teach in my Grandmother's footsteps (who, coincidentally, taught my boss!), and live in the town that my family has been in since the Land Run! We don't have any children of our own yet, but would love to have a big family some day. On the weekends, you can often catch me and my husband singing jazz in local restaurants as the evening's entertainment.
